I’ve been looking at ways to whiten my teeth at home when I came across this advertisement for Luster Premium Tooth Whitening. It does have some good reviews, but I can’t seem to find any information of its safety. Have you looked into this particular product before? Would I be in any danger if I used it?
Looking over the ingredients, I can tell you that while you will be safe using the kit, I would not recommend it as a valid teeth whitening option. I hate to say this but this product is designed to take people for a ride. The main teeth “whitening” ingredient is not what a dentist would use. Instead, Luster Premium uses zinc oxide. This is a pigment that will color your teeth to look whiter, but only temporarily.
The pigment is likely the reason for any positive reviews it has. My guess is these reviews were either written before the pigment wore off or possibly they are fake reviews written by employees. I would not waste your money on them.
I’m not sure if you are aware or not, but you are able to whiten your teeth at home going through a dentist. This would be the safest and most effective way to do it. You will also find that the custom made trays are comfortable and can be worn in public without anyone knowing if you so choose. Though, many patients prefer to wear them at night.
If all you want to do is whiten them, this is what I would recommend. However, if you are looking to change more about your smile, such as the shape, size along with the color of your teeth, then I would look into porcelain veneers. These are the celebrity go-to for smile makeovers. They are much more expensive, so if that is a factor, teeth whitening alone can make a dramatic appearance on your smile.
