I went to my dentist to ask for Invisalign and he said he doesn’t offer it because it doesn’t work and I’d need to get traditional braces. I keep seeing such rave reviews about it. Which is correct?
I’m not sure why your dentist feels that way. Even when Invisalign was brand new, and only worked on certain ideal cases, it still worked for those who were a candidate. These days, they can handle all but the most difficult orthodontic cases.
You are correct about the reviews. It has one of the highest patient satisfaction rates around.
My guess is he doesn’t offer the service so he is concerned about sending you to another dentist and potentially losing you as a patient. However, if you are happy with your dentist, there is no reason why you would have to switch. You can go to one dentist for your Invisalign and another for your general dental care. You’d have to do that anyway with traditional braces. At least with Invisalign, you get to do it without a mouthful of metal wires and brackets.
A Fun Benefit to Invisalign
I’m going to tell you a quick cosmetic hack for when you do find your Invisalign dentist. Because the aligners are custom fit to your mouth, you can ask your dentist to provide you with professional teeth whitening gel to use. The aligners can double as teeth whitening trays.
This allows you to straighten and whiten your teeth at the same time, giving you the equivalent of a mini smile makeover at a fraction of the cost.
Best of luck. Let me know if you have trouble finding a dentist near you who provides Invisalign.
